Prepared To Take The Lead?

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:13-16

Some people are navigating through life fairly well in the midst of the crisis caused by Covid19. While others are caught completely off-guard, unprepared, and bewildered. How about you? Peter addressed people under affliction with some great advice on how to think and act. He said, prepare your minds for action (not inaction), be sober (internally clear), placing our hope on God’s grace (not our own power, intellect and ability). And then he said, don’t slide back into the person you were before You met Christ. Instead, be set apart even more in every way. Be holy as God Himself is holy. He is counting on His people to rise up, take action, be heroic, in this season. Like Esther, “who knows if you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this”. Let’s get our act together Christians and love people in Jesus name! The season will not last.

Am I sober in spirit? How have I prepared my mind for action?

God, as this day begins- I place my faith and trust in You afresh. I know in my flesh dwells no good thing. But, Your Spirit dwells in me. I am holy because You declared me so. And so, as Your humble servant I go out today to serve and love others in Your name. As I officiate in my capacity as a pastor, may I lead this precious family through a celebration of the life of their mom, grandmother, etc. You alone call, prepare, protect and guide. I’m ready!
