Precarious And Precious

And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”

And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” Revelation 4:8-11

Life is both precarious and precious. And it is first and foremost a gift from God. Sometimes we can forget that… or sadly, believe someone else’s life is somehow less valuable. When John, the beloved, is transported into his heavenly vision, he sees God as one uniquely worthy of praise and honor. Why? One reason he states is… “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power’; for YOU CREATED all things (including people) and because of Your will they existed (came into being) and were created (demonstrating is was His will, not an accident of nature).” While there are many dangers in this world, the last danger we should ever face is one intentionally created by other people. Brothers, let us love one another, for love is of God.

What worth do I place on life itself? What gratitude do I show for the life He has given me? How am I valuing others?

God, as this day begins- I am grateful for Your goodness and the lives around me. Remind me that each person I meet is someone for whom Christ died and loved by You. As mother’s day approaches, I pray each mom I know (Joni, Mary, Judy, Maureen, Tessa, Dorothy, Jessica, Lisa, Stella, Kasey, etc.) feel loved and appreciated. Oh, and Lord… I trust you will open doors for Kaenan to work in a job he loves or to be self-employed and succeed in his dreams.
