Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 6:1
Many of us are more concerned about earthly rewards than heavenly ones. God has the ability to reward us for practicing righteousness. That’s an amazing thought, that the God who make and sustains the universe, could use His power and resources to reward me. If only I could do righteous deeds and have my motives pure, that would reflect a life that is conformed to the image of Jesus.
Do I seek the praise of God more or that of men? Do I want rewards now or later in heaven?
God, it seems like you give ample rewards now. I can’t imagine what they will be in the next life. Help me keep that in mind as I try to live a life filled with righteousness. I will strive to live and practice righteousness.
