I am in court fairly often. More than I would like. There is decorum, order, and protocol. The same is true in the church. I look forward to attending and participating in the gatherings at my church. Its been my “home” for over 40 years. Every Sunday, people in tens of thousands churches in America gather to worship and to be built up in the holy faith. The preaching (prophesying) of the Word of God occurs along with other expressions of worship, like communion or baptism are experienced. When done properly and in order, everyone is edified. The apostle Paul had to bring correction to the early church in Corinth because they were behaving in some self-centered ways. He wanted everyone to use their spiritual gift, but to do so “in an orderly way”.

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things must be done properly and in an orderly way. 1 Corinthians 14:39-40 NASB

What attitude do I have when I come to participate in church gatherings? Am I others centered or self centered? Better, yet… and I God centered?

God, as this day begins- it is special! I will be paying my tribute to pastor Barry McMurtrie who has had such a positive influence in my life and ministry. Of course, its a “law” day too. I will help some people with their Trusts. And then… end of day- a special time with my sons and friends playing cards at a guys “baby shower” as Kai and Kasey expect a new daughter in three weeks. Hallelujah.
