Once You Have Turned Again

siftedSimon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.” Luke 22:31-34

Peter made bold claims that sometimes he couldn’t keep. Jesus saw through them and made a way for redemption. I am so glad He does that for me too. Sometimes I see in my mind’s eye, or feel in my heart that I can do something noble or great for God, only to fail Him. I love that Jesus gives us grace to turn to Him again, and then makes us of use to others ‘strengthen your brothers’.

What have my failures taught me about myself? About God?

Lord, at the end of this day… I praise You for the wonderful things I saw and learned. I feel inspired by godly men (our founding fathers). I saw the evil in the holocaust museum. I reflected and commit myself wholeheartedly to You and Your cause in the world.
