Once Lost, Innocence Is Hard To Regain

innocenceThen the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”, therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. Genesis 3:22-23

Adam and Eve were prevented from eating any longer of the tree of life. Many have speculated, “Why”? Perhaps it was because now that they had sinned and were in a fallen state, God wanted to enact a redemption plan that would allow them to first be redeemed and then live forever with Him in righteousness. This is what the rest of the Bible seems to unfold. The tree of life appears again in the book of Revelation and redeemed mankind has access restored. Revelation 22:14 says “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.” Of equal interest is state of Adam and Eve who have lost their innocence. There is not indication that will ever be restored.

Am I actively preserving my won innocence and that of others? When and how did God redeem me?

Lord Jesus, I thank you that I will live forever in eternity with You. I too have eaten and sinned. Thank you that this life is not all there is. I am looking forward to another great day. Show me who to reach out to… and love in your Name. Please help me complete the projects on my mind. Thank you that a degree of innocence can return.
