On Guard

on guardTherefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation;
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:14-15a;17-18

Peter warns us that false prophets come and go. They, themselves are controlled by greed and lust and lead others into sin. Since we know it ahead of time, we are challenged to draw close to Christ Jesus. So, when He returns we will be at peace with God, forgiven and cleansed of our sin, blameless in our actions, knowing that God wills save people right up until that final moment. In addition, I am to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

Am I diligent in these areas? Am I on guard against the error of unprincipled men?

God, thank you for this admonition of scripture today. Thank you for a sense of discernment in this area. I am grateful that Your Word is the authority in my life. May this day be both one of rest and household chore accomplishment. I pray again for You to guard my mom’s health and show us the treatment plan to follow.
