The Lord said to Gideon, “I will deliver you with the 300 men who lapped and will give the Midianites into your hands; so let all the other people go, each man to his home.” So the 300 men took the people’s provisions and their trumpets into their hands. And Gideon sent all the other men of Israel, each to his tent, but retained the 300 men; and the camp of Midian was below him in the valley. Judges 7:7-8
The story of Gideon’s transformation into a mighty leader is stunning. God took a fearful young man hiding in a winepress and vanquished the Midianite people from Israel. God took the least in his father’s house and called him a ‘mighty man of valor’ before he ever was anything close to it. This courageous leader tapped into the miraculous power of God as he discerned God’s will through signs, dreams and direct revelation. When the time came to be rewarded, he shunned positional power and focused on life with his own family. What a good example of faithfulness and obedience, he is.
How about me? What fear is preventing me from moving forward and leading in my life? Do I need a sign, a dream or revelation from God?
God, I feel like we are moving together. But, if there is anything I am not addressing, would you show me Your provision and power today. There are three things on my mind today… the hockey arena and the app development. But more important than this is my own daughter. Please help me with insight, patience and ability to lead her back to her identity in You! May she realize she can be a mighty woman of valor, even as Gideon was.
