There was a series of movies about magicians or illusionists who were like modern day Robin Hoods, returning ill gotten gains from rich people to others. People watched their performance but didn’t see what was really going on,… taking gold, money, bank accounts from the rich. Each of us who are believers have a rich inheritance as followers of Christ (we are co-heirs). And with Him comes a boundless power to live as redeemed people in holiness. That is what the apostle prayed for those in Ephesus- that they would have the eyes of their heart opened up to this great reality. Ever wonder what to pray for your loved ones? How about praying that their eyes are open to the inheritance they have in Christ and the access they have to the power of the living God!
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19 NASB
How open are my eyes to this reality? How can I access the power of God today as I help others?
God, as this day begins- its a mix ahead. I wonder what is most on Your mind? Is it the time with the kids at Vacation Bible School? Is it writing the all important letter on behalf of Ubong? Is it drafting a document for a family in need of estate planning? Is is someone who will walk into church needing a pastor? Lead and guide as You desire. You see me. I want to have the eyes of my heart open.
