Not Completely Self-Sufficient

self-sufficiency-mythWorthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created. Revelation 4:11

Sometimes I start thinking that I have all of life ‘dialed in’. “I’m pretty much self-sufficient”. Then a passage like this comes along and reminds me, that my very existence is dependent upon God. In the apostle John’s heavenly vision, he sees living creatures and the twenty-four elders who give glory and honor to God. In that acknowledgement, they declare that He is the creator of all things. The recognition following is that we and all of creation exist because of God’s will. He wanted all of this and us. For these reasons, He is worthy!

Has the pride of self-sufficiency crept into my life?

God, how wonderful to remember that all of this is by Your will. You hold everything together by Your will. You really are worthy to receive my glory, my honor, and my power. I will serve You with all my life. Would you help me with the two major projects that I must move forward? Show me Your power today, in Jesus name.
