Have you heard people say… “love is an action”? Or maybe they say “love is a verb”. What I think they mean is that if we have love in our heart, we will do something because of it. It’s more than a feeling. I would like to think that the sum of my actions over the last 35 years reflect the profound love I have for my wife. Certainly the new Tesla she drives is evidence of it. Lol. Moreover, the way I worship and treat other people should say something about my love for God, right? The beloved Apostle John says, the love of God will produce action born out of compassion and the overflow of love God imparts to us. Let’s make sure love is more than a feeling.
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. 1 John 3:16-18 NASB
How are the feelings of love in my heart becoming actions? Is my relationship with my lovely bride, family, friends and strangers a visible reflection of God’s great love?
God, as this day begins- I am so grateful for Your great love and that You expressed it in Jesus, the Savior. There are tasks ahead today. Help me do well and accomplish for others what is needed with insight, excellence, and joy. Thank you that Keanu arrives home today. And Lord Jesus, please comfort the 5 families that lost loved ones this week. May Linda and I care for them well.
