comfortBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

The apostle Paul wanted the Corinthian church to know that while he experience great affliction during his travels in Asia minor, he also experienced great comfort. At one point, he and his companions, anticipated death, yet God delivered them. In all this, he came to know an aspect of God’s great love and a deep relationship with God as his Father. Psalm 103 echos this sentiment “Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”

What affliction have I experienced in serving God? What comfort has been available to me?

Lord Jesus, today is a fantastic day. Would you direct my thoughts and actions in ways that glorify You?! I am grateful that You treat me as a son and provide comfort in my life. I thank you for the team that returned from Nepal and how You protected and supported them. Would you help me with the three big projects on my plate? Move within the hearts of others to bring closure and completion. You deserve the credit.
