ThessaloniansWe give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you; for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5

Paul was thankful for other believers. Specifically, he noted how the believers in Thessalonica received God’s word in a time of tribulation and persecution. In response, they had a work of faith, labor of love and steadfastness of hope in the Lord Jesus. It was obvious to all around them that the Spirit of God was present in their lives. This gave Paul great joy to know those with whom he shared the gospel were growing in a living faith.

Who in my circle of influence is growing because I have shared the gospel? Is there works of faith, labors of love and steadfastness of hope in my life?

God, all of these I desire to be characteristic of my life. And may those I am involved with, share the same attributes. Oh, I want to sense Your presence and the leading of Your Spirit today. Help me look like the Thessalonians!
