I have met many people who reject God because they think He is a cosmic “killjoy”! They say things like “all God wants is to ruin my fun and make me follow rules”. Its not really like that at all! God desires obedience in the same way that parents desire obedience. If we are motivated by a desire to protect our children, see them thrive and become the people they should- How much more does God desire our obedience towards the same ends.
“Now these are the nations that the Lord left, to test Israel by them (that is, all the Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars of Canaan; only in order that the generations of the sons of Israel might be taught war”. Joshua 3:1-2 NASB
Is there any area of my life lacking in obedience to God? How am I suffering because of it?
God, as this day begins… I am grateful that when I am obedient, I find Your blessings. Please continue to correct me in kindness and empower me by the indwelling Holy Spirit to discover ever God honoring and pleasing way to live. I have found that living for You is joyful and joy-filled!
