God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. Hebrews 1:1-3
‘How’ Jesus lived is as informative as the things He said. The author of Hebrews reminds us that God spoke “in His Son”, not just through His Son. Jesus life, death, and resurrection- as well as the way he loved and humbly laid down His own life on our behalf, all speak volumes of a loving creator who wants to redeem each of us. We should study the teachings of Jesus, for sure. But, we should also adopt every bit of His way of living and loving as well. It became apparent to outsiders that the disciples ‘had been with Jesus’, probably because they developed his style of living.
How about me? Would others see anything of Jesus way and will in me?
God, as this day begin- lead and guide me by the indwelling Holy Spirit so that I not only reflect the teachings of Jesus, but moreover His very life. Work within our country to shelter us from the harmful effects of this new virus and the ever so common influenza as well. Protect our older adults and most susceptible. Rescue our world from this virus as we repent and turn to You.
A wonderful book that captures the essence of this idea is “In His Steps” by Charles Sheldon. It’s definitely, worth reading.
