Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer deliver you.
Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your distress.”
The sons of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please deliver us this day.”
So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and He could bear the misery of Israel no longer. Judges 10:13-16
God loves us. And because He does, He will discipline us an allow the consequences of our sin to be felt. The people of God were being oppressed by neighboring tribes that should have been removed as a threat long before. The idolatry and worship of foreign gods was bringing a curse upon the people. Ever wonder how God feels when we are distant from Him and lost in our sin? It makes Him miserable as well. America is lost in idolatry. Oh how we must grieve the living and true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!? He has blessed us for so long and now we are experiencing the emptiness and distress brought about by the gods of hedonism, political correctness, and unrighteousness. We need to put away our idols and return to Him.
What idols remain in my life or affections? Am I trusting in Him, myself or anything else?
God, I want Your blessing upon my life. Help me see any areas of disobedience today. And may our country repent and turn back to You, rejecting the foreign gods and idols.
