For, “The one who desires life, to love and see good days,
Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. “He must turn away from evil and do good;
He must seek peace and pursue it. “For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer,
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:10-12

When my son Keanu was a young boy, he often prayed this prayer: “God, I pray today would be a good day, and every day would be a good day”. I like that prayer! In life there are good days and bad days. Right? I feel like God has given me a very good life that has been filled with many, many, good days. Peter likely grew up with Psalm 34 memorized. He quotes it to us as almost a ‘prescription’ for good days. He says to guard ourselves from saying harmful and deceitful things, which is a way of turning from evil. We should proactively pursue peace (with both God and fellow man). What is the result? God hears and attends to our prayers. Wow! On the other side, if we don’t follow this manner of living, His face is against us. And that’s not gonna lead to many ‘good days’.

Have I scripted my life in such a way that that God is attentive to my prayers? Is there any area of life that would find God’s face against me?

God, as this ‘good’ day begins- I have some ideas for ministry that I believe You’ve put in my mind. Would you open the door to bless the daughter of my professor with an Easter basket? Also, I am praying for Ella- may her parents get a good report on her blood and the number they are looking for that would indicate health is returning. And lastly, I pray that today would be a good day, and every day would be a good day.
