And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil. Hebrews 6:11-12;19
Do you ever wonder who you will see in heaven? I hope to see the people I know and grew up with especially. And I believe I will. The author of Hebrews contemplates those who have fallen away from the faith and the difficulty in renewing them to repentance again. Then he expresses his sincere desire that each of us would realize the full assurance of hope by imitating those heroes of the faith who by patience like Abraham have inherited the promises of God (heaven being foremost).
How about me? Am I an imitator of those who live by faith? Am I an encouragement to others to pursue and develop a strong relationship with God where they live by faith and receive the promises of God and live the life He desires.
God, as this day begins, let’s make a difference together. I am excited to reach out and love people in Your name and to know the promises You have for me, both here and now and then and there. Oh God, I hope those I know and love will reach out to You today, and that we will be together for eternity in the next life.
