Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
How can we influence others to open their hearts and minds to Jesus Christ? We do it with a submissive spirit, pure and reverent lives and a beauty that radiates from the inside out. These are not only attractive, they are of great value in God’s sight. Pastor Bill Hybels wrote a book called ‘Contagious Christianity’ in which he illustrates these principles and the the way many others desire these qualities as well. He says, “One of the primary reasons God calls His followers to be extraordinarily caring people is because acts of mercy open up people’s hearts like nothing else can. Put another way, there’s tremendous pulling power in the expression of even a single act of kindness.”
What is it within my life that would pique the interest of others to know my Lord and Savior?
God, I want to have a contagious Christian life. May You shine in new and fresh ways so that I might reflect qualities of great worth in Your sight. As this day of great prayer and seeking You begins, I want to say ‘Thank You’ for so many answers to prayers that have come about through Your great power and love.
