Heavenly Reception

Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”  It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”  Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:7-10

I’ve been to many weddings. It seems like months of preparation are all culminated into one day of celebration. I’ve officiated at nearly 150 personally. The ceremonies are wonderful, but then again, so is the reception dinner. God promises a sort of ‘reception dinner’ or marriage support of the Lamb. The church is the bride of Christ, He is the bridegroom. And in John’s vision, he sees the church and Christ enjoying this wonderful time together. We can look forward to this time with God, but we must, like a wedding, prepare for it.

How am I making myself ready for heaven?

God, as this day begins- help me grow in anticipation for the grand wedding feast in John’s vision. May I be preparing now for the heavenly celebration ahead. Help me minister to people today and reach out and love people in Your name. Please continue to be a comfort and encouragement to our older adults in church.
