Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21
Paul, Silvanus and Timothy were ambassadors for Christ as they traveled throughout Asia minor spreading the gospel. Today, every Christian acts in that capacity. We are ambassadors for Christ as we share the message of Jesus with friends, family, and co-workers. Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross (as a sinless sacrifice) is the key part of that message. The second portion of that message is that we are put into a right relationship with God as a result.
