He Is With You

He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.  And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to you descendants.  Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in you descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.  Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”  Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”  He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” Genesis 28:12-17

In times of transition and even difficulty God can become more real than ever before. I seem to experience the presence of God in those moments. Jacob did too. He had to flee from his brother Esau whom he had deceived. In the desert (the Negev), God came to him in a dream and affirmed all the promises made to his grandfather and father. Jacob declared that surely the Lord is in this place (and interestingly, up until that moment), he didn’t realize it. God is with you if you are a believer. You have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. Once I realize He is with me, wherever I am becomes awesome, in the truest meaning of the word. And today, we are the house of God… as He dwells in our hearts. Let’s realize this great truth and live accordingly.

How much do I sense that God is with me? Are there moments or revelations like Jacob’s dream that have happened to me?

God, as this day begins- Oh, I declare that You are with me. Prompt me throughout the day to do what You desire and accomplish Your will. May I be an encouragement to all I encounter online and in person. I long to see the promises You have for me, come fully into being.
