Now Isaac had come from going to Beer-lahai-roi; for he was living in the Negev.  Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening; and he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, camels were coming.  Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from the camel. She said to the servant, “Who is that man walking in the field to meet us?” And the servant said, “He is my master.” Then she took her veil and covered herself.  The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and he took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her; thus Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. Genesis 24:62-67 NASB

My wife likes to watch the Hallmark Channel, especially during Christmas. She loves the heart-warming love stories. To me, it just seems like the ‘same story’ repeated over and over with different characters. The love story of Isaac and Rebekah is perhaps one of the greatest ever told. God miraculously leads Abraham’s servant on a quest to find the right woman. She draws water from the well and then offers to draw again for the servant’s camels. Her family is given gifts. She agrees to return to meet her unseen husband. Upon seeing each other they have a reveal and encounter and fall instantly in love. I am tearing up already. Lol. All of this was part of God’s plan and power to bring about His will.

How aware am I that God has given me my spouse as part of His plan and power? Have I appreciated her as such?

God, as this day begins- I am so glad You are intimately involved in the details of life. You care about love and falling in love. You orchestrate and plan who we will marry so that we can fulfill Your great plans. I thank you for my lovely wife. I cannot imagine anyone else. I pray for the couples who may be struggling in their relationship today. Work in them and do a miracle.
