God Enjoys A Good Love Story

tearing me apart lisaSo the closest relative said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.” And he removed his sandal. Then Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses today that I have bought from the hand of Naomi all that belonged to Elimelech and all that belonged to Chilion and Mahlon.
Moreover, I have acquired Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, to be my wife in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance, so that the name of the deceased will not be cut off from his brothers or from the court of his birth place; you are witnesses today.” Ruth 4:8-10

God redeemed more than just a young widow, he was redeeming mankind. This love story was part of the salvific work of God, continuing the lineage that would lead to King David and ultimately, Jesus Christ. The scarlet thread of redemption looked pretty thin, but God’s hand moved on the heart of Boaz and Ruth to place two people exactly where they needed to be — together! Their past, the difference in their ages, nor their economic and social standing would prevent their love and ultimately, their marriage.

How aware am I of God’s plans for me? Who is God saving… and what is my role?

God, what a great day it is. As I take Keanu and the team to the airport for their ministry and mission trip to Nicaragua, I pray they will be wonderful ambassadors sharing Your love with all they meet. Go before them preparing hearts and minds to hear the gospel. Give them favor with everyone they meet.
