God Are You With Me?

are you with meHow long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.
But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.

This song of king David expresses the internal doubt every leader experiences. Abraham Lincoln was asked that very question during the Civil War: Do you worry at all that God is on your side? No, he answered… I worry that I am on God’s side. We can trust His character and that God will be consistent with Himself. He has integrity. I can trust in His lovingkindness and my salvation that has been afforded at Christ’s expense. Then my doubt becomes a song of praise because He has always dealt bountifully with me.

Is there any area where the enemy is exalted over me right now? Have I left my own counsel and sought God?

Lord, all the big and small issues of my life I want to entrust to Your counsel. I see how You send people to help me over and over again. This week has big issues to solve, processes to fix, opportunities to address, etc. Oh please continue to deal bountifully with me. I am Your’s and I will rejoice in Your salvation.
