I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20
Its important to live within the freedom we have in Christ, yet not use our freedom as a cloak for vice. In order to protect the believers in Galatia from the dangers of leaving their freedom in Christ and returning to keeping Jewish customs (like circumcision), Paul writes about how he and Peter had to ‘have it out’ over the issue. What was the great understanding he shared… we are no longer living for ourselves or by our own power, but rather for Him and by His Spirit within us. Therefore, this life in the Spirit is to take the place of a life trying to keep the law. This is the secret to holy living- namely Jesus as our source and goal!
How well does my life reflect the freedom in Christ and the holiness of God?
