Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:12-14
Jesus freed us from the penalty of sin and the power of sin as well. Just as we chose to receive His grace and forgiveness, so must we choose to pursue righteousness. The difference is that we are now powered by God’s the Holy Spirit living within us. This is what’s ‘so amazing about God’s grace’. Its counter-intuitive, that we would become holy not by our own righteous efforts, but by His grace. One program actually works, God’s!
Am I trying to live this life on my own power or God’s? Am I constantly returning to my own acts of righteousness or am I pursuing holiness because God’s grace and abiding Holy Spirit are motivating me from within?
Lord Jesus, thank you for Your great example of love and sacrifice. Today, I again am re=calibrating my life and thoughts to receive Your forgiveness and to be led by Your Spirit within me. I want to be holy and set apart for Your great cause. Give me wisdom and strength to be the man You’ve called me to be.
