Feeling The Sting?

When I was a kid we used to catch honey bees in our hands (we called them H bees). I can’t remember them ever stinging me. I know they could and some of my friends did get stung. In the same way, those who put their faith in Christ will not feel the sting of death because Jesus promises a life beyond this one. With this in mind, I will make it my goal to be firm in my faith, immovable, and I will try to excel in the eternal purposes and work of God. Anyone fearing death? Put your trust in Him. He conquered death and you too be victorious over the ultimate enemy.

But when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 NASB

How has the assurance of salvation found in Jesus’ substitutionary death relieved my fears and worries about death?

God, as this day begins- what a reminder of Your goodness and desire to save. My calling is defined as a response to Your great love and the life to come. So, help me today to walk in Your ways and fulfill Your will. May I reach out and love others in Your name. As I continue the season (Lent) of fasting, I pray that each in the Husen families will be drawn into a deeper personal relationship with You. Amen.
