Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. Luke 1:4
While we can debate ‘what happened’ in the first century concerning Jesus. Everyone should agree ‘something significant happened’! Luke, with the precision of a physician, decided to set forth an orderly account and thank God he did! We now have the benefit of his written account based on eyewitness accounts. Eyewitness accounts are significant because they represent for us one of the highest degrees of evidence. And when it comes to the gospel (good news), we have before us eyewitness news!
Do I confidently share the personal knowledge and eyewitness news about God working in my own life? Not usually. I keep it to myself even though my faith is built up day by day.
God, thank you for the truth of the gospel and the reality of this relationship with You found by following Jesus Christ.
