For you recall, brethren, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:9-12
My professor in college said “You have no evangelism unless you have nurture”. He was of course right. The apostle Paul not only shared the Word of God and the gospel with people, he shared his own life, and then exhorted, encouraged and inspired new believers in their faith. The result is they began to walk on their own in a manner worthy of the God who called them. I love crusades and big exciting events where we can draw people who have never really heard about God’s love expressed in Christ. I pray with expectancy that many will cross the line of faith. And I know, that they need people to nurture them in the early months and years of their Christian walk.
Who and I nurturing right now? Who nurtured me?
