The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. Luke 17:5-6
Do We Need More Faith? Or Just to Exercise That Which We Already Have? The disciples wanted God to do His part and to do their part too! His part is to be faithful (keep His promises), ours is to exercise faith (believe He will). Sure, we all would like to have greater faith, but God simply wants us to exercise it. In doing so, our faith grows because we begin to know the object of our faith, God Himself.
I what area of life or situation is God asking me to have faith? Can I really take Him at His Word and trust His promises?
Yes and Yes. God as this day begins, I know that even when I am faithless, You remain faithful. You keep Your promises. On this Independence Day, I am grateful for the personal freedoms afforded in this great nation, but the ultimate freedom is that found in Christ, because my sins are forgiven and Your Spirit lives within me.
