And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. Luke 11:29-30
Crowds of thousands were following Jesus. Jealous religious leaders were constantly trying to get Him to say something wrong. The Jews were having a mixed reaction to Jesus. While some were opening their hearts to Him, others were not, or were not even aware of the time of their visitation by the Son of God. That’s why Jesus chastised them and ultimately told them that their constant seeking of miracles was misguided. The only sign He would give them would be His death and resurrection.
Do I constantly seek God or signs from God?
Lord Jesus, I love when You say yes to my prayers and when You do miracles and signs in and around my life. Better than all those is when we communicate and feel close to You, when You give me thoughts beyond my own, and a compassionate heart that beats with Yours. I am looking forward to today.
