Distinction

Christians are supposed to live lives of distinction (we have been called out of the world and into God’s kingdom). Too many are trying to “fit in” where they don’t belong. Many people think when it comes to God, ‘anything goes’- He will treat everyone the same, no matter what. But, this is a misunderstanding of God’s righteousness. God is certainly fair, forgiving, and merciful to all (demonstrated in the sacrificial life and death of Jesus). He has always made a distinction between what is good and evil, acceptable and unacceptable. He did so with Cain and Able’s sacrifices, He did it with Egypt and Israel during the Passover, and He does it today. My key concern is to be sure what I am bringing before my Holy God, is acceptable. When it is, I sleep like a baby.

But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. All these officials of yours will come to me, bowing down before me and saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will leave.” Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh. Exodus 11:7-8 NASB

What does God require of me? But to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him. Is there anything displeasing and “of Egypt” (sin leading to bondage) in my life?

God, as this day begins- Oh I pray for those who are suffering the loss from a recent death (Tim, Jason and Nancy, etc.) Please be a source of very real comfort to them. I pray You would give me wisdom beyond myself to do well in court, speak the truth in love, and represent my client well.
