Now, behold, I know that you will surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.
So now swear to me by the Lord that you will not cut off my descendants after me and that you will not destroy my name from my father’s household.”
David swore to Saul.
And Saul went to his home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold. 1 Samuel 24:20-22

David spared Saul’s life at a time when Saul was seeking to take David’s. What an amazing act of mercy? Saul recognizes and prophetically declares that David one day will be king and requests favorable treatment of his descendants. David would fulfill his request and keep that promise. Integrity and mercy were two characteristics that marked David’s life at this moment. They remain valuable qualities for every leader.

Where do I find the guidance and strength to act with integrity in stressful situations? Who is model of mercy?

God, only You have these answers. How amazing that David didn’t take a short cut. He realized that Your power and Your hand in His life were more important that any self-made achievement. Would you move in power in my life today. There are some prayers and desires I have and some problems to solve. “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You. Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.” Psalm 25
