Deliver Us From Evil

deliver from evilFinally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-4

Evil is real. There are evil people and an enemy of our soul, an evil one (Satan). The apostle Paul shares some final thoughts with the Thessalonian church that had undergone persecution. He reminds them they are in his prayers. He desired their prayers as well. Namely, that the word of the Lord would spread rapidly and be glorified, valued and understood. While confident in them, Paul did want to give them correction in their lifestyle. His desire was that the Lord would direct their hearts into greater dedication to Christ and expressions of love. To alleviate fear, he reminded them that God will rescue and protect them. He does that for us today.

Who is praying for me in this way? How am I inspiring others to this great calling?

Lord, on this day of worship, I pray that the message of Jesus would spread rapidly, especially during this Christmas season. Touch the lives of my family members and draw them close. May each continue steadfast in their love and service to You. Protect each of us from the evil one. Your are faithful!
