Craftsmanship

In seventh grade I discovered one my favorite classes in school: woodshop! I loved using my hands to make something from wood (I still do). One of my first projects was to cut strips of pine and mahogany, glue them, plane them level, and cut a pattern of a pig. We still use that cutting board today that was made by a seventh grader in 1976. When it was time to construct the holy tent of meeting and ark of the covenant, God gave special abilities, intelligence, knowledge, artistic design and craftsmanship to people to accomplish their God-honoring task. He still does that today. He empowers, by the Holy Spirit believers who open themselves up to His gifts and abilities. Let’s seek a supernatural enhancement to our work today!

The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. Exodus 31:1-4 NASB

What creativity, intelligence, knowledge or design could I seek from God to bless Him and others? Am I relying too much on my own experience?

God, as this day begins- I marvel at the beauty that is expressed in people You’ve made. How wonderful to hear a new song, see a beautiful piece of furniture, or see a problem solved with simplicity of design and intellect yet, heretofore missing. I may never make a Tesla, (a true marvel of achievement), but perhaps I will bless people with love, affection and occasionally a well crafted sermon! I am open to You helping me do my work!
