Cracked Pots

cracked potsFor God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:6-10

What an amazing reality… God is in our hearts. This is a great treasure indeed. The apostle Paul reminds believers that we have the light of God shining in us and out of us. But, he admits we are but earthen vessels – that’s a way of saying we are like cracked water pots. And indeed, its often through our faults and cracks that the light really shines. The light shines out through God’s grace covering a multitude of sins and transforming us from who we were to who we are becoming. A friend of mine summed it up this way… “God uses cracked pots”. He is right. But, this doesn’t mean God uses crack pots.

How is God shining in my life right now?

Lord Jesus, as this day begins, I pray You will teach me, lead me, and use me for Your glory.
