I find myself wondering “How do people who don’t have an abiding faith in God make it through life?” If you live long enough and you will experience heartache, disappointment and even the loss of loved ones. What do you do? Where or to whom do you turn to find comfort? I have embraced parents who have lost loved ones and spouses who said goodbye to the love of their life too. Fortunately, I can point them to something beyond human comfort (important as it is). God!
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NASB
