Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
We all get hurt! Its going to happen and keep happening. In different ways and to varying degrees we are going to get hurt and suffer, physically, emotionally or otherwise. When we do, God wants to be our comfort. And in an amazing fashion, He wants to make the comfort He has given to us, available to others through us. And it doesn’t even have to be ‘like for like’. But when it is, oh the wonderful ministry that can occur. I have watched how people who have experienced the loss of a child, minister to others and see how God can comfort in a situation that is unbearable.
How has God comforted me? Who can I comfort in this season?
God, names are flooding into my mind. Instead of listing them, please hear my silent prayers for each. Please meet their deepest needs and move me into practical expressions of love. Oh, thank you for Your wonderful comfort.
