During the summer, when we were young, my brothers and I would walk along a fairly often traveled road and look for used coke bottles and cans that could be redeemed and recycled. A coke bottle could be redeemed at the grocery store for five cents. five of them meant you could play three pin ball games. The idea of a used coke bottle on the side of the road becoming useful again when purchased back by the manufacturer is a wonderful illustration of how God has redeemed our lives. He didn’t purchase us back with five cents, but rather with the precious blood of His own dear Son. The results of that “buy back” of our lives is extraordinary on a number of levels.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He set forth in Him, regarding His plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. Ephesians 1:7-10 NASB
How much do I appreciate what God has done for me? What difference has He made in my life?
God, as this day begins- there are some wonderful moments ahead with the children’s Vacation Bible School starting (with the grandkids) and 1000 other kids. I pray I can be a small part of a very important day. And late in the day, please help me minister to Ubong and get his authorization done. I pray for his release.
