Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts.
And I show you a still more excellent way. 1 Corinthians 12:27-31

Everyone who is part of the life of the church is important, uniquely gifted and needed by others. Paul reminds us of this in chapter 12 of his letter to the Corinthian church. Some people however, have unique “appointments” or roles within the church. But that doesn’t diminish anyone else or necessary elevate them, simply by nature of their calling.
Have you met people in the church (certainly outside of it) who operate on Positional Authority? They remind you that they are the boss. Have you discovered how wonderful it is to operate on Relational Authority? That’s when we serve one another based on mutual respect and common goals and it little matters where one is on the org chart.
How should we operate in the church? Leaving us hanging on a cliff, Paul says- “I show you a still more excellent way”. Ughh, what could it be? What in the body of Christ is more important that a God-given role or responsibility? The answer is… going to be shared tomorrow! Lol

What is my role in the body of Christ? What gifts has God given me to fulfill it? Have I discovered the more excellent way?

God, as this day begins, I thank you for Your goodness and the blessings in my life. Help me fulfill my role in the body of Christ and see it as the high priority that it is. And as I do, may I be the example of Jesus to those in my family.
