Good financial investments yield returns in which the profit is considered capital gains. Sometimes you have to pay a tax on those. Its sort of the penalty for success. I used to consider certain parts of life “gains”, but since coming to Christ, my value system has changed. The bargain I made was this- He forgave my sin, imparted the promised Holy Spirit, and placed profound purpose upon my life. I gave Him myself, my future, all I have and all I am. It was for me, a good trade and remains such today. The Apostle Paul discovered the same. Whatever was gain to him before Christ, he considered loss. How about you?
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. Philippians 3:7-9 NASB
What earthly “gains” are there for which I am still striving? Do I pretend any righteousness is from myself?
God, as this day begins- I wouldn’t change a thing. I am a forever debtor to You. Your grace is sufficient, Your provision overflowing, Your goodness sublime, Your daily purposes profound. I am so glad to be part of the Kingdom of God. I am excited on a number of levels today. I will see Yondoo (Keanu), celebrate Kai’s birthday, and of course put the grandcuties on my lap. Add to that my lovely wife, a little work and ministry and what a day is ahead. I do pray for complete healing and insight for my friend Liz Christian,… may she be returned home today.
