Camping with Jesus

In 1970 Joni Mitchell recorded Big Yellow Taxi- with the famous words “don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone”. So much of life seems this way, doesn’t it? If only I could realized the wonderful blessings of God when all the while they are right here. Such was the case with the Israelites in the wilderness. God offered to live with them, I mean right there with them. They had their tents and He had His. He gave them detailed instructions for the construction and a promise to dwell among them. How amazing to be that close to the Maker of heaven and earth. How incredible to be granted that access and availability to the king of kings. Today, God has promised to be just as close, if not closer- Jesus said “He (the Holy Spirit of God) will be with you and in you”! You and I walk this life’s journey- camping with Jesus! The problem is… some would rather “pave paradise and put up a parking lot”.

Let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them.  According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall construct it. Exodus 25:8-9 NASB

How close do I really want to be to God? What obedience is lacking or diligence is faltering that prevents me?

God, as this day begins- Oh, its a miraculous one on a few levels. I have my part, You’ve fulfilled Your part. Let’s break the campsite here at home and walk through this day side by side (You leading of course). I am hopeful for the continuation of two miracles… I need not speak them now, but You and I are aware of what is in the works… You’re miracle working power that could result in someone turning their heart to You and discovering a personal relationship with the One who made them. I pause to pray about that sweet person who often occupies the object of my prayers- work in this young person’s heart and especially her mind to lead her to Yourself and ultimately the Truth.
