But you, beloved…

but you belovedBut you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. Jude 1:17-21

In this wonderful little letter of admonishment, Jude reminds us that we are different that those who corrupt the Word of God for their own end. He prefaces how we should live in contrast with the words “But you, beloved…”. Remember what the apostles taught about the Lord Jesus Christ. We are to build ourselves up in the most holy faith, praying in the Spirit, while keeping ourselves in the love of God. What great advice. In a world filled with people who seek after its own lusts, we can live differently as we await the mercy of the Lord which leads to eternal life.

Am I thinking and living distinct from those in the world?

God, help me remember and live the way You desire. Many irons in the fire today. I pray You will work in me and through me to accomplish Your will and build Your kingdom.
