Building

I liked playing with Legos as a kid. I like playing with them even more now (if I have time). A couple years ago on Christmas break I built a 1000+ set into a cool VW Bus that sits in the law firm on a shelf. It took patience to fit each piece where it belonged. As I followed the instructions, I became a master builder… well, maybe not like those who put together Lego sets with 10,000 pieces! In the Church, God is the Master Builder who laid as the cornerstone, Jesus Christ. Then He appoints certain people to assist in placing every person in the place they belong. The result is an effective loving body ready to do the work of God in the world. One of my great joys as a pastor is helping people find that place and building them up (equipping). Have you found your place?

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [e]edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:11-16 NASB

How faithfully am I inspiring and training others in ministry?

God, as this day begins- I am grateful to be in Switzerland and particularly Zurich, the second location of the German reformation. May we see and experience something of You and the life You promise. As we celebrate Independence Day, I will miss my grand cuties, but the Spirit of Freedom is alive in my heart!
