One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. Romans 14:2-4
We Christians have a history of arguing about silly things like food. The apostle Paul reminds us that life is about much more important things. So, we shouldn’t get caught up and feeling contempt or judging one another in this area. Its a matter of conscience. He says “the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” He is right!
Am I looking down on anyone because they eat different food than I do?
God, thank you for the Bible and that today my focus will be on kingdom issues of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Would you move on my behalf to bring resolution to some outstanding issues? I need Your help. Also, as I work on budgets, give me insight. I pray that at the end of the day, we have moved the ball forward a great deal.
