And It Was Good

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Genesis 29-31

In six days God made it all. He made the heavens and the depths of the sea, planets, moon and stars. And it was all a gift to us. Some call the theology of this part of the Bible- Man’s Dominion. I prefer to think of it in terms of stewardship. Like everything else, God is the owner, we are merely stewards of what He provides. This is the state of things before sin enters the world. One day, God will restore the creator – creature relationship into its original perfected state and it will be good! Meanwhile, let’s steward what we have in a responsible, God-honoring manner.

How great is my appreciation for creation? How is my stewardship?

God, as this holiday begins (Labor Day), I want to treat it as a seventh day, if You will. A day of rest and care for creation. I am grateful for the beauty I see around me- the mountains, seas, stars and land. They speak of You, a loving God and Heavenly Father.
