But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him?
But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:14-15
There are some experiences unique to Spirit-filled believers. One is that God reveals His mysteries to us. That’s what Paul reminds every believer. Beyond that, we can know what God thinks and feels about situations we encounter, people in the world, and just about anything. How? We have access to His thoughts (‘we have the mind of Christ’)
He goes on to write:
“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
How amazing that this is unique to Christians, for the natural man cannot accept these things, nor do they make sense to him, because he doesn’t yet have the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in his life. We can only want that for those who are not yet followers of Jesus Christ.
What mysteries is God revealing to me? Am I seeking the mind of Christ in all matters of life?
God, what a gift that I have neglected… to seek Your mind on all things and to ask not only ‘what would Jesus do’, but what would Jesus think and feel about my situations. Spirit of the Living God, fill me and speak to me today as I try to glorify You in all situations. I am so glad we are walking through this life together and the very mind of Christ is mine.
