righteousnessRighteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people.

The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts wisely,
But his anger is toward him who acts shamefully.
Proverbs 14:34-35

In the collection of Proverbs that contrast wisdom and foolishness, Solomon points out that when a nation is righteous, God exalts it. But, folly, sin and foolishness leads to disgrace. And from the king’s perspective, there is favor to bestow on a wise servant.

I wonder how God sees America today in terms of righteousness? Does our sin cause Him to withhold His blessings? If we would act wisely would His favor flow to us again?

God, I want to be that servant who acts wisely. Today, I thank you for answering so many prayers with a yes. I can see how Your favor has been bestowed on me as well as friends. The people I care about need a touch a from You. Oh that each of them would reach out to You today with humble hearts. God, I have a few irons in the fire that need attending as well. Would you help me complete the tasks at hand?
