But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
God’s love is expressed in His grace (unmerited favor). All of this is best seen in Jesus Christ who saved us by His own sacrificial and substitutionary death upon the cross. From Him comes the realization of His promise that a ‘helper’ would inhabit believers. The Holy Spirit of God dwells in us in order to regenerate and renew as holy people. We are justified or legally right with God and the inheritors of eternal life and all that Christ possesses as well. Now that’s a rich love!
How have I received and responded to this love? Am I sharing it with others?
